January was a month bustling with educational series opportunities, which will continue on through February. Regent Park kicked off our 2012 Seminar Series-“Knowledge for a New Year” on January 26 with an interactive presentation by Michelle Hidalgo-Fedd, State board license for Ear Care. The presentation, “Communication is Key-Healthy Hearing for Healthy Living” educated seniors of the importance of regular hearing checks and how to prevent hearing loss (Pictured). Attendees were able to take hearing challenges and have opportunity to look inside their own ear with a videotoscope.
Other presentations have included, “Fun Physical Activity-Stay Fit, Stay Healthy” presented by the Arthritis Foundation. Guests were shown fun strength and range of motion techniques to help prevent and/or cope with Arthritis. These techniques will be integrated into the Life Enrichment and tailored fitness program at Regent Park
“Nutrition’s Impact on Aging” was addressed on February 9, by guest speakers Dr. Doug Nunamaker and Dr. Josh Umbehr with Atlas MD. The presentation was paired with an opportunity to experience how Legend Senior Living’s Gold Leaf Dining Program addresses both the nutritional and social experiences one seeks for enjoyable dining.
Please join us for the conclusion of the Seminar Series on Thursday, February 16 at 11 a.m. at Natural Grocers for a presentation by Dr. Joseph Galichia on “Getting Heart Healthy”. The day will feature heart healthy tips as well as a heart healthy menu brought to you by Green Acres. There is still time to RSVP at 337-5400.
